Just minutes after he pops the question and delicately
slides that gorgeous ring on your finger, your dream wedding still seems as far
away as it did when you were a little girl playing “wedding” in your mom’s
closet. Yet, the truth of the matter
is, the countdown has begun, and the time leading up to the actual nuptials is
going to fly by like a chaotic wind storm of decisions, disagreements, and
poorly managed schedules. To help you
dodge a few pitfalls along the way, we’ve compiled a list of four things every
bride needs to know, but no one ever tells them.
IT’S NOT OK TO BE INDECISIVE.
Being indecisive during any part of the planning process can be
mentally exhausting for everyone involved.
Take the time needed to research and find what speaks to you, before
making that trek to the bridal shop, bakery,
reception
venue or florist.
DISAGREEMENTS ARE INEVITABLE.
Before you can live happily ever after, you’re going to have to
actually make it through your wedding day.
It’s important to go into the planning process knowing that everyone,
including your soon to be in-laws will have their own vision of your special
day. More often than not, anyone who
ventures to share their opinion is also contributing funds to your event - so
keep calm, consult with your better half, and compromise when you can.
YOU’RE A BRIDE. NOT A SUPER HERO.
Planning a wedding is a full-time job, so if you’re already committed
to a 40-hour work week, and you don’t currently possess any supernatural powers
allowing you to control the space-time continuum, you will need to delegate out
some of your “to do” list to friends and family. Put together a
planning
schedule and tackle items one by one.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.
Registering for wedding gifts can be an exhilarating experience. While the dishes, towels, and sheet sets you
select will gleefully represent the home and life you will be building
together, a cluster of impulse items, you many never really use, can leave your
newlywed home looking more like a flea market; littered with un-opened boxes of
gadgets and appliances. So, if you
rarely bake, skip the counter top mixer.
