When and where yoga originally emerged has been a topic of
debate for more years than I’ve been alive.
In spite of this ambiguity, we are all still very familiar with the gamut
of benefits that practicing yoga can provide.
Yet, according the latest Yoga in American study, conducted in 2012,
only 8.7 percent of U.S. adults are actually practicing yoga. Here are four of the worst excuses for not making
yoga part of your daily routine.
I’m Not Flexible Enough
Seriously? You don’t need to be
a contortionist to practice yoga. In
reality, yoga “creates” flexibility.
Yoga Conflicts with My Religious Beliefs
Say it with me now – “yoga is not a religion”. Yoga is a philosophy that helps individuals
to gain a better understanding of their
true
self through breathing techniques, meditation, and poses.
I’m Not Healthy Enough for Yoga
Many yoga based programs like
Solar
Body are specifically designed for individuals looking to recover their
inherent potential to heal by utilizing the power of the Sun. Exercises are simple, yet boost and maximize
an individual’s natural healing power.
Yoga is Too Difficult
As my grandfather always said “The challenges we face are what make
life exciting. If it’s too easy, it’s
not worth doing.” The same could be said
for yoga. It’s challenging, it’s a new
experience, and it requires practice.
Yet, in time, the benefits will rain down.
The bottom line here is that yoga is universal. It can be practiced and applied by just about
anyone; whether active, inactive, young, old, male or female. So stop making excuses and roll out that
mat. A healthier, happier you is
waiting.
